These style bars were standard issue on Porteur bicycles - and for good reason! They're maneuverable, lightweight, and exceptionally comfortable for riding through the city and country with heavy loads.

  • Width: 48cm
  • Reach: 14cm
  • Grip area: 13cm
  • Rise/drop: 15mm
  • Stem clamp area: 25.4mm
  • Weight: 270g

These bars are available in two tubing diameters, 23.8mm for road components and 22.2mm for mtb/city components:

  • 22.2mm (MTB-size) bars accept MTB brake levers and clamp-on shifters. They do not work with bar-end shifters. The only inverse levers that work are Dia Compe levers in the 22.2mm size.
  • 23.8mm (road-size) bars accept standard inverse brake levers, standard bar end shifters, and 23.8mm city brake levers. In short, anything made for road bars fits. They do not accept MTB levers or shifters.

Love the Porteur bars with inverse brake levers.

Just finished my latest build using the VO Porteur bars and Dia Comp inverse brake levers. I'm a diehard drop bar guy, but I really like these bars as they give more than one hand position like drop bars do. The inverse brakes make for a clean, minimalist cockpit, not to mention one or two finger braking power.

Upright Conversion

Excellent for converting a straight bar Mt. Bike into useful transportation for an
83 y.o. geezer.

Almost like riding around in Provence

OK, not really but I am very pleased with the Porteur bar. It now lives on a tiny Waterford belonging to my partner, who was not a fan of the drop bar. Now she can ride comfortably in a semi upright position with her hands closer to her body and still get proper leverage over the pedals.
Velo Orange continues to deliver top notch niche products with a fit and finish is as good as anything out there and at a much more reasonable price.

beautiful and functional

astonishingly beautiful, particularly the softly descendent line which give a aerodynamic-vintage look, but no so racing style to sacrifice comfort for those, like me, who ride-commute every day. High quality steel

Digging my Porteur Handlebar!

I have been looking at traditional mustache handlebars to replace my drop bars on my '75 Schwinn Paramount. However, they all seem way too wide for a classic road bike. Then I came across the Porteur Handlebar. It has the perfect width and the reach is reasonable so I can get a good stretch with an aero position when I lay my hands on the very comfortable brake levers out front. Mustache handlebars are too far forward with the brake levers out front. Then the price. I bought them on sale at a crazy discount.
